This unique house by John Wardle Architects is a multi-award winner. The narrow site response is through the use of a central courtyard, where the characteristic graffiti connects the house to the neighbourhood context, something that is integral to the design of the house.
With such a strong design focus, the brief for thermal performance was to integrate JWA’s high specification for insulation and glazing seamlessly in the design. This resulted in a star rating that easily exceeded the minimum BCA requirements that were in place at the time of design.
